HB 4723 (Espinoza)

House Bill 4723 would authorize the designation of up to 25 additional renaissance zones; these would be specifically for border crossing facilities.  Such facilities would have to be located in qualified border local governmental units.  The bill would amend the Renaissance Zone Act.  The bill would apply to the Port Huron area.

HB 4724 (Pavlov)

The bill would create a new act entitled, the Blue Water Bridge Plaza Expansion Oversight Reporting Act.  It would require the Department of Transportation to report at reasonable intervals to the members of the standing committees in the House of Representatives and State Senate that deal primarily with transportation and local government issues; to each member of the Appropriations subcommittee in the House and Senate; and to each elected state official in House districts 32, 81, and 83 and in Senate district 25. The report would be a written accounting of all expenditures related to the Blue Water Bridge Plaza expansion project and written updates as to whether the project is staying within budget, along with full explanations for any expenditures beyond those budgeted.
