The fourth annual Southeast Oakland County Senior Salute at the Royal Oak Farmers Market was a huge success, with more than 700 local seniors attending, said hosts Sen. John Pappageorge, R-Troy, and Reps. Chuck Moss and Marty Knollenberg. The event featured several lucky winners as $2,000 in Meijer gift cards was raffled off in increments of $200 and $250. American House Senior Living Communities was this years platinum sponsor. (10/3/2011)

Katie Youmans Eichler of Flushing addresses the Michigan Senate at the 17th Annual Memorial Day Service in the Senate chamber. Michigan's fallen military heroes who defended freedom and sacrificed their lives in the war on terror were honored during the ceremony. Katie lost her husband, Sgt. Josh Youmans, on March 1, 2006, three months after he was injured in a blast from an improvised explosive device. (5/26/2011)

 

Laura De Roo of Paw Paw addresses the Michigan Senate at the 17th Annual Memorial Day Service in the Senate chamber. Michigan's fallen military heroes who defended freedom and sacrificed their lives in the war on terror were honored during the ceremony. Laura and her husband David lost their son, Sgt. Gabriel G. De Roo, on Aug. 20, 2006, in Mosul, Iraq, when he led his squad to support another squad under attack. (5/26/2011)
